Hawaii Cancer Care Clinics: Westridge and Waterfront Plaza

Wardlaw Design Group completed 2 oncology clinics for Hawaii Cancer Care that  relocated and consolidated their Savio, Castle and Queens POB II clinics. Their existing facilities were extremely aged and didn't comply current design standards and codes. The project that is shown is in Westridge Center and the other clinic is in Waterfront Plaza.

The design approach looks at patient and staff flow in 3 major aspects: Infusion Treatment, Clinical Assessment and In-Office Drug Dispensary. 3 main call-back points help delineate each path. The design carefully considers the patient experience as well as staff functionality & efficiency. The main points of entry, orientation of rooms, and control doors help staff to maintain control of not only incoming patients & family, but deliveries, pharmacy reps, ambulance services and waste out-flows.

Both clinics utilize the a new color palette developed by WDG for their new brand image. The Waterfront Plaza clinic was completed in January 2021 for $1.2m and the Westridge Clinic was completed in October of 2021 for $2.6m.

Paia Fish Market Waikiki

Wardlaw worked with the ownership group to construct the flagship location of Paia Fish Market in Waikiki and provide design assistance. The project is located on the ground floor of the recently renovated Laylow Hotel in Kuhio Avenue adjacent to Dukes Lane.

The design worked to incorporate the existing vernacular design of their other restaurants on Maui, and reinterpret this into a more modern approach for Waikiki. The result is a welcoming style that helps introduce the Paia Fish market to tourist in Waikiki and creates a relaxing atmosphere in which guests can enjoy their meal.

The construction of this project was challenging because of its location and the coordination needed with other ongoing renovations by other teams in the Laylow. The project was completed in 2018. Wardlaw was the General Contractor with Design Assist. MC Architects was the Architect of Record.
